What the two flags mean

Our fire-retardant lines are made from fully tested fire-retardant materials. Testing is carried out at material level to EN 13501-1 (reaction to fire, classification B-s2, d0) and NFPA 701, and the same tested material is used across the range's styles. Test reports are available to trade customers on request, and your venue's fire risk assessment decides what is acceptable in a given location.

UV-stabilised lines contain UV inhibitors that slow colour fade in bright and outdoor positions. All artificial foliage fades gradually in prolonged direct sun; UV-stabilised stock fades far more slowly than untreated stock. We don't publish a lifespan.

The range

All 15 lines are green trailing plants supplied as bare stems, without pots or baskets, and sold singly. Fourteen hang between 68cm and 92cm, and a 128cm clustered fern gives a longer drop for high-level positions. Styles include two pothos, two string-of-pearls lengths including the 92cm pearl string, a 75cm Boston fern, spider and button ferns, peperomia, fronded thyme, angel plant, and small-leaf, variegated, forest and mixed foliage.

Specifying them well

  • Containers: choose baskets, troughs or high-level planters to suit the site. The flags apply to the plant, so include containers and any liners in your own assessment.
  • Drop length: measure the clear height below each container. In walkways and over seating, keep trailing ends well above head height.
  • Texture: pair a fine trailing line, such as string of pearls, with a broader leaf, such as pothos, so a long run of baskets does not look uniform.
  • Heat: keep all plants clear of heaters, including patio heaters, and of candles, cooking equipment and naked flames.
  • Quantities: count every position, then use the minimum stock filter to confirm the table holds enough of each line for the whole scheme in one order.

Frequently asked questions

Why specify lines with both flags?

Some locations need both properties at once: a covered terrace or atrium gets strong daylight, and as a public space it also falls under the venue's fire risk assessment. These 15 trailing lines are made from fully tested fire-retardant material and contain UV inhibitors that slow colour fade, so one product covers both points in your specification.

Do these trailing plants come with baskets or pots?

No. All 15 are supplied as bare stems, sold singly, without pots, baskets or liners. Choose containers that suit the fixing points and the look of the venue, and include them in your fire risk assessment, because the fire-retardant and UV flags apply to the plant itself, not to anything you add around it.

Can these plants hang near patio heaters on a terrace?

No plant should be placed near a heat source, whatever it is made of. Keep all planting clear of patio heaters, other heaters, candles, cooking equipment and naked flames, and plan heater positions and basket positions together. Fire-retardant material is treated to slow ignition and flame spread; your venue's fire risk assessment decides what is acceptable in a given location.

How do I get the fire test reports?

Test reports are available to trade customers on request. Email the sales team with the SKUs you are specifying and we will send the reports that cover the material used in those lines. Testing is carried out at material level to EN 13501-1 and NFPA 701, and the same tested material is used across the range's styles.

Will these plants fade outdoors?

They will fade far more slowly than untreated stock, but all artificial foliage fades gradually in prolonged direct sun. UV-stabilised lines contain UV inhibitors that slow colour fade in bright and outdoor positions. We don't publish a lifespan, so check planting in south-facing and unshaded positions regularly and rinse off dust, which dulls colour.
