What UV-stabilised means
UV-stabilised lines contain UV inhibitors that slow colour fade in bright and outdoor positions. All artificial foliage fades gradually in prolonged direct sun; UV-stabilised stock fades far more slowly than untreated stock. We don't publish a lifespan.
Only lines with the UV flag in the table are UV-stabilised. None of our olive or wisteria trees carries the flag, so keep those indoors and choose a flagged line of similar height and shape for bright or exposed positions.
What is in the range
- Topiary, 60cm to 150cm: cedar cypress columns, buxus balls, cones and spirals, bay laurel and triple-ball trees, with 12 lines sold as matched pairs such as the 120cm pair of bay laurel trees. See topiary trees.
- Palms and exotics: areca, raphis, cycas and traveller banana palms and yuccas up to a 155cm triple-stem, including the 125cm UV areca palm. See palm and exotic trees.
- Leafy trees: ruscus, mango leaf, Japanese ficus leaf and red aralia trees, and a 180cm bamboo.
- Grasses, ferns and flower bushes: potted grasses such as the 90cm UV grass plant, a Boston fern, onion grass stems and 30cm red and white flower bushes. All of these lines are sold individually.
- Trailing plants: 15 hanging lines that are also fire-retardant, compared on the fire-retardant and UV-stabilised hub. Keep them, like all planting, clear of heaters, candles and naked flames.
Choosing for the position
- Bright interiors such as conservatories, glazed atriums and shop windows get the same benefit as outdoor sites: slower fade than untreated stock.
- Outdoors, most lines arrive in plastic weighted pots, which keep them upright indoors but are not enough on an exposed terrace. Set them inside a heavier planter with ballast; see large planters and the planter finder.
- Height: 37 lines sit between 120cm and 179cm, the usual range for entrances and terrace corners. Use the height band filter to find smaller lines for troughs and window boxes.
- Upkeep: rinse off dust and debris periodically, as grime dulls colour in bright light faster than fade does.
Using the table
Filter by type and height band, then set a minimum stock of 25, 50 or 100 if you are fitting out several sites. For project planning by position, such as entrances, courtyards and baskets, see commercial outdoor planting.

Frequently asked questions
How long will UV-stabilised artificial plants last outside?
We don't publish a lifespan. UV-stabilised lines contain UV inhibitors that slow colour fade in bright and outdoor positions. All artificial foliage fades gradually in prolonged direct sun, and UV-stabilised stock fades far more slowly than untreated stock. Orientation, shade and reflected light all affect the rate, so check planting in the sunniest positions regularly.
Can I use lines without the UV flag outdoors?
We recommend only the UV-flagged lines for outdoor and very bright positions, because untreated artificial foliage fades noticeably faster in direct sun. If a style you want is not flagged, such as our olive and wisteria trees, keep it indoors away from strong sunlight, or use the type and height filters to find a UV-flagged alternative of similar size and shape.
Do outdoor lines need anchoring against wind?
Yes, plan for it. Most UV lines come in plastic weighted pots, which keep them upright indoors but are not enough on an exposed terrace or entrance. Set the pot inside a heavier planter and fill around it with sand, gravel or another ballast, and keep tall, narrow shapes such as spirals and cypress columns out of the strongest wind.
Is a topiary pair one unit or two?
Lines with "pair" in the title are listed as a matched pair of trees under one SKU, so one unit dresses both sides of a doorway. Single versions of many shapes are listed separately. Check the product title in the table before calculating quantities, especially when you mix pairs and singles across several entrances.
How should outdoor artificial plants be cleaned?
Brush or shake off loose debris, then rinse with clean water and let the plant dry naturally. For stubborn grime use a soft brush and a mild soap solution, then rinse again. Avoid solvents, bleach and pressure washers, which can damage foliage and trunks. Regular cleaning keeps colours looking even and stops dust dulling the leaves in bright positions.
