What's in the range
- Small potted ferns (22cm to 40cm): lady, royal and southern wood ferns in small weighted pots, including the 30cm potted lady fern and a mixed pack of three. Good for shelving, bathrooms and gift retail.
- Grasses (60cm to 130cm): upright, architectural shapes such as lemongrass, lavender grass and the 130cm onion grass plant, which suit modern interiors and narrow floor spaces.
- Moss-base fern plants (60cm to 150cm): fuller floor plants, some sold with a separate copper, gold or silver metal planter included, such as the 150cm moss-base fern with gold planter.
Choosing between them
Ferns give soft, arching volume and look best at or below eye level, where the frond detail shows. Grasses give height with a small footprint, so they work beside doors, in corners and in rows along a wall. For both, check the width figure as well as the height: a 90cm fern can be as wide as it is tall. For bare fern and foliage stems to arrange yourself, use the foliage and fern stem finder.
Bright and outdoor positions
Five lines are UV-stabilised, including the 90cm UV-resistant Boston fern. UV-stabilised lines contain UV inhibitors that slow colour fade in bright and outdoor positions. All artificial foliage fades gradually in prolonged direct sun; UV-stabilised stock fades far more slowly than untreated stock. We don't publish a lifespan. Browse them in UV-stabilised lines. One fern in this range, a 75cm Boston fern, carries our fire-retardant flag; for the full flagged range and our test information see fire-retardant artificial plants, and keep all plants clear of heaters, candles and naked flames.
Planning quantities
Because every line is sold individually, ferns and grasses suit repeated placements at exactly the count you need: a row of grasses along a partition, matching ferns on every table, or a shelf display restocked through the season. Filter by minimum stock of 25, 50 or 100 to find lines deep enough for your quantity. Pair plain weighted pots with metal planters or ceramic planters, and see the wider ferns and grasses collection.

Frequently asked questions
Are ferns and grasses sold singly?
Yes. Every fern and grass line is sold individually, so order the exact number you need, and stem ferns count towards the 20% multibuy on 6 or more mix-and-match items. There is no per-line minimum; the order minimum is £150 ex VAT across your whole basket, so ferns can sit alongside trees, planters or stems on the same order. Check the live stock figure in the finder before ordering a large quantity of one line.
Do the ferns come in pots?
Most ferns and grasses come in a weighted plastic pot, and some are sold with a separate metal planter in copper, gold or silver included, or with a ceramic pot or stand. Pot type and pot dimensions are listed on each product page, which helps when choosing a decorative planter. A small number of lines are supplied without a pot for use in your own containers.
Can artificial ferns and grasses be used outdoors?
Only the five lines flagged UV-stabilised should be considered for outdoor or very bright positions. UV inhibitors slow colour fade, but all artificial foliage fades gradually in prolonged direct sun, and treated stock fades far more slowly than untreated stock. We do not publish a lifespan. Treat the other ferns and grasses as indoor stock and keep them out of strong sun.
How do I clean artificial ferns?
Fern fronds collect dust between the leaflets, so use a soft brush, a feather duster or a hairdryer on a cool setting every few weeks in busy spaces. For heavier dirt, a barely damp cloth works on most leaves; let them dry fully before putting the plant back. Avoid solvents. Fronds can be reshaped by hand after cleaning or transit.
