Artificial Bonsai Trees FAQ for Trade Buyers

We stock seven artificial bonsai, 45cm to 60cm tall: a pine in a ceramic pot, a red maple, and five ficus-style trees (aglaia in two sizes, tropical, banyan and nandina). Each is sold singly, stock is shown live on every product page, and they count towards the £150 ex VAT order minimum alongside anything else we sell. None is UV-stabilised or fire-retardant, so they are indoor lines. The short answers below cover what trade buyers ask most.

Which bonsai styles and sizes do you stock?

Seven lines: the Artificial Luxury Pine Bonsai Tree 50cm, the Artificial Red Maple Bonsai Tree 50cm, the 45cm Artificial Aglaia Odorata Bonsai Ficus Tree and its 60cm version, and three more 60cm ficus-style trees: the tropical, banyan and nandina. Canopy width is the widest point of the foliage, which matters more than the pot when you plan a shelf or counter.

Which bonsai come ready to display?

The pine is supplied in a ceramic pot, and the red maple in a shallow pot that shows the trunk. The five ficus-style trees come in plastic weighted nursery pots, so most retailers and stylists set them in a low ceramic dish and top-dress with gravel or moss. Choose a planter whose inner opening is 2 to 3cm wider than the nursery pot; see the ceramic planters collection.

Do you stock juniper, cherry blossom or wisteria bonsai?

No. We list only the seven styles above. For blossom, our cherry and blossom trees start at 120cm; for a larger Japanese look, the twisted-trunk fruticosa ficus trees in the Japanese trees collection run from 120cm to 180cm.

Is there anything between bonsai size and a floor tree?

The 70cm Twisted Stem Modern Arboricola Artificial Plant Bonsai Bush (50cm wide) bridges the gap. It suits low consoles, plinths and the front of a larger plant group.

Ordering, stock and delivery

Is there a minimum quantity per bonsai?

No. Each bonsai is sold singly with no per-line minimum. The only minimum is the order value: £150 ex VAT, which you can reach by mixing bonsai with any other lines.

How do I check stock before I order?

Every product page shows the live quantity in stock, and a low-stock notice appears when a line is running down. Out-of-stock lines sort to the end of collection pages. We do not hold or reserve stock, so if you need a specific quantity for a project, order it once you have confirmed the numbers.

How do I see trade prices?

Register online, log in to see trade prices. Prices are shown ex VAT, and VAT is added at checkout with a VAT invoice supplied.

How much is delivery and how quickly do orders go out?

UK mainland delivery is £14.99 on orders under £300 ex VAT and free on orders of £300 ex VAT or more. Orders are dispatched within one working day of cleared funds. A paid next-working-day service is available for orders placed before 10am, Monday to Friday. Remote areas and the Scottish Highlands and Islands are charged separately; full details are on our ordering and delivery page.

How do I pay?

Orders are paid up front by card, bank transfer, PayPal or card payment by phone. We do not offer credit accounts on this site.

Placement: indoors, outdoors and fire

Can artificial bonsai go outdoors?

No. None of our bonsai is UV-stabilised or flagged for outdoor use. Use them indoors and away from strong direct sun; a sunny window ledge will fade the foliage over time. For outdoor lines, see our UV-stabilised and outdoor artificial plants page.

Are any bonsai fire-retardant?

No bonsai carries our fire-retardant flag. If a venue's fire risk assessment calls for fire-retardant decoration, choose from the lines on our fire-retardant artificial plants page. Wherever they are used, keep bonsai clear of heaters, candles, cooking equipment and naked flames.

Where do bonsai work best in a restaurant or spa?

Mixing bonsai into a wider order

What works alongside bonsai on a counter or shelf display?

Bonsai sit well with other small, low-maintenance lines: mini desktop plants, artificial succulents and small ceramic planters. For a retail shelf, group one pine or red maple as the focal piece with two or three 45cm aglaia trees in matching dishes around it, so the display has one statement tree and several smaller pieces. Can bonsai ship in the same order as large trees and planters?

Yes. Everything on the site can be combined in one order, and the whole order counts towards the £150 ex VAT minimum and the £300 ex VAT free-delivery threshold. Large mixed orders are generally sent on a pallet, so make sure someone can receive a pallet delivery at the address.

Can you send bonsai directly to my customers?

Not from this wholesale site. Dropshipping is run as a separate business, Leaf Dropship, with its own terms. Wholesale orders are delivered to you.

Care and quality

How do I clean artificial bonsai?

Dust weekly with a soft brush or cool air, and wipe leaves with a barely damp microfibre cloth when needed. Keep them out of steam rooms and wet areas. More methods are on our care and maintenance page.

How do I judge whether a bonsai looks realistic?

Do bonsai need shaping after delivery?

Branches can press together in transit. Open them gently outwards and check the tree from its main viewing side before display.

Frequently asked questions

Can I see the bonsai before ordering?

Trade customers can visit our showroom in Louth, Lincolnshire, by appointment. Email sales@leafdesignwholesale.co.uk to book.

Do you supply product photographs for my website?

Yes. Registered trade customers can use our resource library, which holds product photography and descriptions, plus a stock and price feed. Each bonsai also carries a barcode (EAN) for your till or marketplace listing.

What if a bonsai arrives damaged?

Report damage or shortages within 24 hours of delivery. Faulty goods reported within 14 days are credited or replaced. As a trade supplier we do not accept change-of-mind returns unless agreed in writing.

Do you deliver outside the UK?

The website calculates UK mainland delivery only. For EU and other international orders, contact us for a quotation.

Is there a printed catalogue?

Yes. Our trade catalogue is free and unpriced, available digitally with printed copies on request. Request it from the catalogue page; prices are shown on the website when you are logged in.
