Start with the space and the customer
Before choosing lines, decide what the range has to do. A gift shop needs pieces a customer can carry out, mostly under 60cm and in decorative pots. An interiors store can sell floor-standing trees and planters as a scheme. An online seller needs lines that photograph well and ship safely. Measure the shelf, table and floor space you have, and plan the range to fill it at the depth you want to display, not the depth you would like to buy.
Building an opening range
A balanced opening range for a small shop usually covers four groups:
- Small potted plants and succulents for impulse and gift: see desktop and small plants and small plants. The 30cm potted trailing monstera is typical of this group.
- Medium houseplant alternatives of 40cm to 90cm: monstera, ferns, trailing plants and orchids, such as the 60cm monstera or a 46cm white orchid. These are the lines customers buy to replace houseplants that died on them, so display them in room settings with a planter.
- Flowers: single stems with a few glass vases, and some ready-made arrangements.
- One or two statement trees for display, which also sell to customers furnishing a whole room.
Within each group, go deeper on fewer lines. Three or four units of each of 30 lines gives a fuller, more convincing display than one or two of 80. Add planters so customers can buy a finished look, and check that plants and planters fit using the fit finder.
Selling units and the minimum order
Every plant, tree, planter, stem and foliage line is sold individually, and 6 or more multibuy lines such as stems, foliage and hanging plants earn 20% off automatically. There is no per-line minimum, and the order minimum is £150 ex VAT across any mix, so an opening order can cover a wide range and reorders can be small. UK mainland delivery is £14.99 below £300 ex VAT and free above it.
Pricing for resale
Trade prices are shown ex VAT to logged-in trade customers. Set your retail prices from your own costs, including delivery, VAT and display losses, and from what your customers pay for comparable pieces locally. We do not publish recommended retail prices.
Reordering from live stock
Every line shows exact live stock, and out-of-stock lines are listed last. Before you reorder, check the stock and the SKU, because lines sell through and the range changes. For lines you want to carry permanently, pick ones with healthy stock in the finder's 50 or 100-unit filter, and keep a second-choice line in mind. We do not reserve stock or publish restock dates. If you sell online, the hourly stock and price feed in the resource library keeps your listings in step with ours.
Seasons and refresh
Refresh the flower and colour side of a range with the seasons: pastel blossom and spring flowers early in the year, bright tropicals in summer, berries and warm colours in autumn. Keep the green core constant. The plants by colour page helps build seasonal colour stories.
Displaying artificial plants
- Group by colour or by room (kitchen, bathroom, desk), not by supplier category.
- Show plants in planters and on shelves at the height a customer would use them.
- Label clearly as artificial; many customers cannot tell, and some want to know.
- Dust display stock every week. Dust is the quickest way to make artificial plants look old.
Selling online too
If you sell online, trade customers can download product photography and descriptions from the resource library, updated daily. The selling online toolkit covers photography, descriptions and returns, and the packaging boxes guide covers shipping boxes for plants.
Register online, log in to see trade prices. The minimum order is £150 ex VAT and UK mainland delivery is free on orders of £300 ex VAT or more; full terms are on ordering and delivery. Frequently asked questions
How much stock do I need for an opening order?
Plan from your display space rather than a budget figure. For a small shop, three or four units each of around 20 to 40 lines across small plants, houseplant alternatives, flowers and a few trees gives a full display. The order minimum is £150 ex VAT, every line is sold individually, and there is no per-line minimum.
Are any lines sold in packs?
No. Every line is sold individually, including all single flower stems, foliage stems, potted plants, grasses, trees and planters. A 20% multibuy discount applies automatically when you take 6 or more items, mixed and matched, across single flower stems, stem ferns and foliage, hanging plants, ceramic storage canisters and any line priced under £8.
Do you provide recommended retail prices?
No. Trade prices are shown ex VAT to logged-in trade customers, and you set your own retail prices. Base them on your full landed cost, including delivery and VAT, allow for display wear, and compare with what customers pay for similar pieces locally. Our catalogue is unpriced so you can use it with customers.
How do I keep my online listings in step with your stock?
Trade customers can download an hourly stock and price feed from our resource library, alongside product photography and descriptions updated daily. Exact stock is also shown on every product page. We do not reserve stock, so check live stock before you promise availability to your own customers.
Can I reorder the same lines every season?
Often, but not always. Lines sell through and the range changes, so check the live stock and SKU before each reorder. For permanent lines, choose ones with healthy stock and keep a similar second-choice line in mind. We do not publish restock dates, so order seasonal stock ahead of the season.
