Wholesale Artificial Plants: The Complete UK Trade Buyer’s Guide

Leaf Design Wholesale is a trade-only UK wholesaler based in Louth, Lincolnshire, holding nearly 1,000 artificial tree, plant, flower, stem and planter lines, with the live stock count shown on every product page. This guide maps that range category by category: how many lines there are, the heights they come in, how they are sold, and which finder page to use next. It is a map of the stock, so ordering mechanics, fire terminology and margin maths are covered in their own guides and linked where they matter.

Who we supply and how buying works, in brief

We sell to businesses only: retailers, garden centres, florists, interior designers, hotels, restaurants, offices, care providers, event companies, property stagers and online sellers. Register online, log in to see trade prices.

The commercial terms fit in three lines. The minimum order is £150 ex VAT, and every price is shown ex VAT with VAT added at checkout and a VAT invoice supplied. UK mainland delivery is £14.99 on orders under £300 ex VAT and free on orders of £300 ex VAT or more, with dispatch within one working day of cleared funds. Payment is up front by card, bank transfer, PayPal or card over the phone; there are no credit terms on this site.

The range at a glance

The table below summarises the live catalogue by category. Line counts and heights come from our product data (the height field on each product is the overall height in centimetres, including the pot where there is one). A line can sit in more than one category, so the rows are not meant to add up to the total. Stock moves daily, so we do not print quantities here: every product page shows the exact live figure, and out-of-stock lines sort to the end of each collection.

Two patterns are worth knowing before you build a basket. First, every line is sold individually, and flower stems, foliage stems and stem ferns count towards a 20% multibuy when you take 6 or more mixed items. Second, heights cluster. Almost half the catalogue sits in the 60–120cm band, which is the working height for floor-standing plants beside furniture, while the 180cm-plus trees are a deliberately smaller group for atriums, entrances and double-height rooms.

Artificial trees, from 40cm desk trees to 260cm palms

Trees are the largest category at 309 lines. The height you need usually follows the ceiling: in a standard 2.4m room a 150–180cm tree reads as generous without touching the ceiling, while a 210cm or taller tree needs a lobby, atrium or pitched ceiling to avoid looking cramped. Allow at least 30cm between the top of the canopy and the ceiling so the tree does not look forced into the space.

At the top of the range, the 260cm XXL coco palm is our tallest tree, with a 140cm canopy spread, so it needs floor space as well as height. Most trees from 180cm to 210cm arrive in a weighted plastic pot around 22cm across and 18cm high, which matters when you choose a decorative planter (see the planter section below).

Some lines come ready-dressed. The 180cm triple-ball ficus topiary with gold planter ships with a separate metal planter, and the same tree is listed with copper and silver planters, which saves a second purchase for clients who want a finished look on day one. In all, 67 lines ship with a separate or decorative planter included.

Topiary is the other big tree group. Spirals, balls and cones in the 90–150cm band are the staple for entrances and paired placements either side of a door. The 120cm natural boxwood spiral topiary is a typical single line; several topiary lines are sold as pairs, so check the title before you order two. For olive, the core range runs 65–180cm and two extra-large olives sit above it, including the 200cm XXL olive tree with decorative planter. The olive range is small, so confirm live stock before you promise quantities to a client.

Potted plants, hanging and trailing lines

There are 308 lines classed as artificial plants, and the biggest single group inside that is hanging and trailing plants at 121 lines. Most trailing lines are sold as a bare stem with no pot, so you choose how to mount them: in a hanging basket, dropped into a trough, laid along a shelf edge or run along a beam. Lengths run from 20cm sprigs to 200cm garlands.

For shelving, bar backs and high-level runs, a long garland does the work of several plants. The 180cm trailing monstera garland covers roughly the width of a standard shelving bay on its own; two, overlapped by 20–30cm, will run a 3m shelf. Where a potted, ready-to-place piece is needed, such as a retail counter or a display plinth, look at potted trailing lines such as the 90cm potted string of hearts, which arrives in a white decorative pot.

Flower stems, foliage stems and orchids

We hold 110 single flower stem lines from 30cm to 130cm, with a median height of 75cm, which is the natural length for a tall vase or a hand-tied bunch. By colour the spread is pink 26, yellow 19, white 18, green 16, purple 11, red 9 and orange 5, so pink, white and yellow schemes have the most choice. Every flower stem is sold individually, and 6 or more across the mix-and-match range earn 20% off. A tall pink line such as the 75cm pink delphinium stem is typical of the working range.

Foliage stems add another 66 lines from 30cm to 120cm, also sold individually. Florists and stylists use them to bulk out arrangements and hide mechanics; a long line such as the 100cm green eucalyptus foliage stem gives height and movement at the back of a large vase. As a starting ratio, plan one foliage stem for every two or three flower stems in a mixed vase, then adjust to the look.

Planters and vases

We stock 105 planter and vase lines: 36 metal, 20 fibreglass composite, 10 ceramic, 25 glass vases and 32 lines classed as large planters. Heights run from 12cm ceramic pots to 62cm composite planters on legs. The planters and vases collection holds the lot.

The single most useful check is fit. A tree's weighted pot has to drop inside the planter's opening, and product listings give external sizes more often than inner openings. Take a worked example: a 180cm tree in a 22cm-wide weighted pot will not sit inside a planter with a 21.5cm inner opening, even though that planter is 40cm across on the outside. A planter such as the 43cm Inoke embossed grey composite planter gives far more room, and you can pack the gap with moss or bark to hide the grow pot. Fire-retardant and UV-stabilised lines

Two product flags matter for commercial schemes. Thirty-six lines are flagged fire-retardant, mainly large trees, bushes, stems and trailing plants. Our fire-retardant lines are made from fully tested fire-retardant materials. Testing is carried out at material level to EN 13501-1 (reaction to fire, classification B-s2, d0) and NFPA 701, and the same tested material is used across the range's styles. Test reports are available to trade customers on request, and your venue's fire risk assessment decides what is acceptable in a given location. Only flagged lines are fire-retardant, and every plant, flagged or not, should be kept clear of heaters, candles, cooking equipment and naked flames.

Sixty-seven lines are UV-stabilised, and most of those are also marked suitable for outdoor use. UV-stabilised lines contain UV inhibitors that slow colour fade in bright and outdoor positions. All artificial foliage fades gradually in prolonged direct sun; UV-stabilised stock fades far more slowly than untreated stock. We don't publish a lifespan. Frequently asked questions

Do you show how much stock you hold?

Yes. Every product page shows the exact number in stock, updated live, and lines with fewer than five left are marked as low stock. We don't reserve stock, so the figure you see is what is available to anyone ordering at that moment. For phased projects, ask us about continuity before you commit.

Can I see products before I order?

Do you supply product photos and data for my own website?

Yes. Logged-in trade customers can use our resource library, which holds product photography and descriptions updated daily and a stock and price feed updated hourly.

Do you deliver outside the UK mainland?

Our checkout calculates UK mainland delivery. Remote areas and the Scottish Highlands and Islands have set surcharges, and orders for the EU or anywhere else are quoted individually, so contact us with your postcode and basket.

Do you dropship?

Not from this site. Dropshipping is run as a separate business, Leaf Dropship, at leafdropship.co.uk, with its own terms. Wholesale orders here are delivered to you.
